I am not sure why all department managers are called to the boss office. But I just think positively that there won’t be any problems. For the past three months, all reports and data are completely reported and there is nothing wrong with them.
Entering the boss’s room, I could see that he is in good mood – smiling while greeting us all. I hope this will remain until the end of the meeting. Sitting on a chair around the teak table, he starts to tell while pointing his hand to the whiteboard that we are about to get into new project management system. Well, frankly speaking, as a marketing staff, I really have no idea about this. But, that is Ok; better keep silent for the time being.
I catch the basic point that this company is going to apply a new management system and the boss apparently has prepared and provided us all with portfolio management each. He asks the OB manager to distribute the portfolio to everyone available in the room and we start the discussion on it.
Again, in my point of view, the new system will be applied and the boss has called some professional people to train us how to apply and use the new system. Apparently, the new system is to get all departments together in one thought, character and discipline, and something unique called interest. Interest? These people explain something about PPM which stands for Project Portfolio Management. I get it as a business tool used to manage effectively several projects or portfolios towards an overall objective. Each of us here within this project is hoped to achieve a specific business advantage or objective. We all should benefit the whole project portfolio planned. And shortly, PPM is an umbrella for all of the individual projects who are here us.
Alright, I get the point; we are all here must work together, know the objective clearly, understand the benefit and lose transparently, undergo it seriously together, face the troublesome might occur together and feel the advantage altogether. Gee… I think it is a good idea. Ok, I have no problem with that.
